Meet Me in the Middle

This collection of fashion and interior textiles embraces the intersecting of cultures lost due to displacement and the new cultures that arose from it. It explores the unknown part of the designer’s history in West Africa, while pondering the only part she knows in America. From this collection you will experience the colors, aromas, tastes, and feelings as she transports herself from her own current culture into the cultures of her ancestors as they are today. It incorporates a diverse selection of digital and screen prints mixed with embroidered, manipulated, and woven samples. The rich, warm, and comforting colors mix with touches of playful bright contrasting colors, creating a contemporary feel for the young joyful souls.
